But if they doubt the primary diagnosis, they'll briefly discuss exercises, splints, ergonomics, maybe just hand you pamphlets and a brace or two. and then they'll tell you about surgery and what style they do (you don' usually get options). Your first visit to ortho will center around confirming the diagnosis from your primary using simple hand/forearm strength tests and asking questions about sleeping, what kind of work/play you do, etc. I got good news for you! You're not having EMG! Instead, they're gonna slice you open at your orthopedic visit! -)
